Stranger Than Paradise | Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton takes an exotic excursion in ‘Stranger than Paradise’ wearing our 'Harriet' by Tim Walker for W Magazine May 2013.
Cornelia James travels to Xilitla, Mexico where Tim Walker and his muse Tilda Swinton descend on Las Pozas, a garden in a subtropical rainforest created by the late poet Edward James. As he gazed into the heart of Las Pozas he wrote 'I have seen such beauty as one man has seldom seen'.
Hoping to embrace that liberated realm of the imagination and unconscious so familiar to James, the photographer Tim Walker and the actress Tilda Swinton created a series of phantasmagorias inspired by artists Salvador Dalí, Giorgio de Chirico, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, and other James muses and collaborators.
And like that, we are transported to a world where the wonder of nature meets the surrealistic space of virtual visionaries. A creative collaboration of the highest order, this stunning series is a salute to the sanctity of this sacred land.
