Starting off the season of social events, the Cheltenham Races are just around the corner.  Over the course of four days in March in Gloucestershire, England, the best of British and Irish-trained horses race for prize money which is second only to the Grand National. Originating in 1860, the four-day event now attracts a far larger crowd, and one eager to dress up for the occasion.

If you're going to be part of the Cheltenham crowd ('The Cheltenham Tribe'), it's time to start thinking about your perfect outfit. Of course, hand-in-hand with those springtime events comes the unpredictability of the British weather, bearing the hazards of rain, wind, and even snow. If you're going to be outside, the last thing on your mind should be cold hands, you'll want to stay fashionable in wool, tweed and leather. We've put together our favourite Cheltenham looks to offer up a bit of race-day sartorial advice. Of course, gloves take centre stage: just the thing to keep you both warm (don't drop your winnings with cold hands!) and fashionable.

Look 1: A camel coat is a style-staple of the Cheltenham crew (Max Mara Wool Coat) and knee-high boots mean that you can stay on your feet all day whilst still looking put-together (Stuart Weitzman suede boots). There are no straw hats here - felt hats make an appearance instead (and are less likely to blow away!). Complete the ensemble with our 'Clementine' merino wool faux fur glove, designed to keep the early-spring chill at bay, or amp up your outfit (tweed and leather is a failsafe combination) with our leather 'Fleur' glove.

Look 2: A sharp, tailored wool jacket (Balmain double-breasted jacket) paired with a leather skirt (Joseph leather skirt), brings country-chic to the racetrack. Merino wool is the perfect glove whatever the weather. Keep it sweet in our 'Beatrice' merino wool glove, the finishing touch to any race day look.

Look 3: Stand out in the crowds with a hint of colour (Katherine Hooker pink coat), and with a faux fur hat and simple handbag (Longchamp Le Pliage Handbag). Our merino wool 'Cornelia' glove is a perfect choice: feminine yet practical at the same time.

Look 4: The combination of tweed (Katherine Hooker tweed jacket) with Dubarry suede boots is a country-chic classic. The right pairing? Our 'Emilie' leather glove, sleek, tailored and warm.
