Our glovemaking-Cornelia James

Our glovemaking

Are we doing it wrong? All over the world there are factories churning out gloves by the container load. Here, at Cornelia James, it’s not quite like that. We do like to think of ourselves as having a factory - after all, we take rolls of fabric in and what comes out is gloves.

Are we doing it wrong? All over the world there are factories churning out gloves by the container load. Here, at Cornelia James, it’s not quite like that. We do like to think of ourselves as having a factory - after all, we take rolls of material in and what comes out is gloves.

But it’s not that simple.

We make our gloves to order and that makes every glove special. When we make a glove, we’re making it for a particular person and, while it’s being made, it's being made by one particular person, who will make it from start to finish and put their name to it by signing the tag. It’s personal.

Signing a completed glove

When we make a pair of gloves, we offer eight different sizes and an option to adjust the finger length. If they are long gloves, we take two measurements around the arm. Our gloves fit like a glove should fit. And whether your gloves have been made by Lilly or Milena or Ellie or any one of our glovemakers, you can be sure that they have been made with care and skill and - above all - pride.
