      Index Finger Fit

This optional measurement allows us to account for your finger length, if you suspect they are unusually long or short in relation to your hand width. Please provide the length of your Index finger, starting from where it meets your middle finger. This measurement is usually between 2 and 3.5 inches.

      Arm Fit

      Arm fit diagram

For our elbow length gloves, we take a measurement for your forearm fit. To take your forearm fit measurement, hold your arm outstretched and pass a tape measure around your forearm at the broadest point. The resulting measurement, in inches, is your forearm fit.

For our Opera length gloves, we also take a measurement for upper arm fit as well as forearm fit. To take your upper arm fit measurement, hold your arm outstretched and pass a tape measure around your bicep at the mid point - the resulting measurement, in inches, is your upper arm fit.

To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54 - e.g. 20 centimetres = 7.9 inches

      Help

'Luxury' is a concept greatly debased; so often a cover for overpriced 'tat', as we would say in England. But consider this. Our 'Elspeth' glove is 50 grams of pure cashmere that has been combed from the underdown of a goat grazing in the Gobi Desert, collected and transported over 6,000 miles to the shores of Loch Leven, Scotland before being dyed, spun, knitted and finally delivered to our glove makers in Sussex, England. Luxury? We think so.

      Made From
Absolutely pure cashmere. Cashmere is one of the true natural luxuries of our age. Combed from the underfleece of goats grazing at altitude in Mongolia, it travels to Scotland and the shores of Loch Leven to be spun into yarn and dyed. The purity and softness of the waters of the Loch are essential to the finish and the process is so natural that the water used can be returned to the Loch. It comes to us in the green hills of Sussex to be cut, sewn and fashioned into simply perfect gloves. For softness, colour and warmth there is no other material on earth that comes close. It is a simple, almost magical fabric.

      Dimensions
8 bl (button length). This is the length of the glove, in inches, from the hem at the top of the glove to where the thumb meets the wrist.

      Our glovemaking

The hub of our glovemaking operation is a small, flint walled building that was built some 150 years ago to house dairy cows. All around us are pastures. A mile to the south, the green hills of the South Downs separate us from the salt seas of the English Channel.

It takes a lot to make a good pair of gloves. Great fabrics, selected with great care from mills large and small, skill and people with a passion for making things just right.

Almost everything we make is made to order. So that the person who is making your gloves knows exactly what you want in terms of glove size, style and dimensions.  They will also know your name and you will know theirs because, when they’ve finished your gloves and they’re completely happy with them, they will sign the tag to say so.

      Our

      Presentation box

Our box, like our gloves, is built to last. For us, it's about the product, not the packaging, but when we designed our box we made sure it was beautiful and timeless.
