Winter? We love winter. There will be cloudy days and grey days but there will also be great days. There are lives to lead, grand projects to complete, careers to build, dogs to be walked, moments to be seized and troths to be plighted.
If you plan on doing any of these things, we have the gloves for you. There is no such thing as bad weather, only poorly selected clothing.
Our 'go anywhere, do anything' gloves are the merino wool gloves. These gloves are made from 100% pure Merino wool. Not to be confused with 'wooly' gloves - Merino wool provides warmth without bulk and we cut these gloves from a fine jersey fabric which allows us to produce a glove which is warm but not chunky, very stylish - equally at home under city lights or on country roads. Your dog will look on you with renewed respect.
Cashmere is absolutely for this season. The cashmere is combed from the underfleece of goats grazing in the Gobi desert and then transported 6000 miles to Scotland to be dyed and spun; a luxury, an indulgence - perfect for giving or to be given. Our cashmere gloves are carefully cut and sewn by hand in exactly the same way as all our other gloves to make a glove that flatters the hand.
Leather is Nature's gift to the glovemaker and it is a gift that we accept with glee to produce gloves that will put a spring in your step and joy in your heart. Seize the moment!
To ascertain your glove size, pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb. The result, in inches, is your glove size - e.g. if circumference measures 7 inches, you are a glove size 7. If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower of the two.
Of course, there are times when you might not know the glove size, perhaps if you are buying our gloves as a gift. In that case, we would recommend a size 7, because this is the average size, and is likely to fit most people. If your glove doesn't fit perfectly, we are more than happy to exchange it - just contact us. Special size requirements are always available on request.
With touchscreen friendly winter gloves, the key requirement is for conductivity that will allow the naturally occurring electric charge in your finger to pass through the glove to the screen.
To do this we hand embroider stars in pure silver thread into the thumb and forefinger of both gloves. Why silver? Silver is an excellent conductor - the best in existence. Why hand embroidered? Because only hand embroidery will position the little stars with sufficient accuracy.
How well does this work?
This is intended to work well for simple interactions - making and receiving calls, playing your favourite podcast. For detailed interactions like sending a text message, you'll want to take your gloves off.
