Measuring Guide
Glove Measuring Guide

Not sure what size of gloves you need? Please watch our video measuring guide and refer to the size chart below. This will help you capture the most accurate measurements. Most of our gloves are made to measure, so we want to ensure a perfect fit.

Illustration of a tape measure wrapped around the widest part of a hand, excluding the thumb, to find your glove size in inches

We make our gloves in hand sizes from 6 to 8½. To find your glove size, pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb. The result, in inches, is your glove size. If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower.

Here is how you convert from centimetres to inches:

How do I guess someone's glove size?

If you are buying gloves for someone and don't know their glove size (and don't want to ruin the surprise), their height can indicate their most likely glove size. Please note, this is statistically most likely but won't be correct 100% of the time.

Applies to women only

5'1" to 5'6" 7

Elbow Fit

For our 12 inch gloves, we take a measurement for your elbow fit to ensure your gloves have the correct and flattering fit on your arm. This measurement is the circumference of your arm, where the glove ends.

Please take care with this measurement and give it to us accurately. We really want your gloves to look perfect, and not be too loose or too tight. With your help we can get them just right!

How do I measure my elbow fit?

Measure from where the thumb crease meets the wrist.

Tape measure held at the crease where the thumb meets the wrist

Keeping your arm relaxed, measure up the arm until you reach 12 inches. This is where the glove ends.

Tape measure running along the forearm up to the 12 inch mark

Measure the circumference of your arm at this point.

The exact result in inches is your Elbow Fit for an Opera Glove. Please round to the nearest 0.25 inches.

To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54 - e.g. 23cm = 9 inches

My measurement is below 8.5 or above 15 inches, what should I do?

We will still be able to work to your specification, but please contact us before ordering.

Index Finger Fit

This optional measurement allows us to account for your finger length, if you suspect they are unusually long or short in relation to your hand width. Please provide the length of your Index finger in inches, starting from where it meets your middle finger. This measurement is usually between 2.25 and 3.5 inches.
Do I need to provide this?
No, this is a totally optional measurement. Please only worry about it if you suspect you have unusually long or short fingers in relation to your hand. Our standard fit is excellent for 90% of people.

Slightly shorter than the classic 'opera' glove, Henrietta is the glove of choice when you don't want the traditional 'opera' style. Cut to finish just above the elbow, Henrietta is perfect for dresses which have a touch of sleeve.

Material: Pure Supima Cotton

Our Supima Cotton is grown in the San Joaquin Valley of California and knitted into pure Cotton Jersey in Fehraltorf, Switzerland. Lightweight and comfortable, it has remained the simple day glove material of choice for good reason. The cotton is rated UPF 50, offering the highest level of protection against the sun's ultraviolet rays.

Care Guide

Swiss cotton is tailored restraint — crisp, breathable, and beautifully structured. It’s not delicate, but it is precise. A glove made from Swiss cotton holds its shape naturally, so long as you don’t crowd it or rush the wash.

Think of it as a lightweight classic that thrives with quiet discipline.

Let It Flow

Let it breathe. Place your gloves inside a mesh bag and wash with a small load. Avoid wringing or spinning too hard. Once clean, lay them flat, and take a moment to adjust the edges and trims before they dry.

Care Method

Machine wash cold in a mesh delicates bag on a gentle cycle. Dry flat. Reshape as needed. Avoid tumble drying and excessive friction.

For Precise Structure and Finish

For gloves with embroidery, scalloped edges or shape retention issues, a specialist in cotton tailoring can restore sharpness without compromising structure.

Sun Protection UPF 50+

The cotton for these gloves is Ultraviolet Protection Factor 50+, the highest level of protection against the effects of the Sun's UV rays. Our cotton is effective at blocking both UVA and UVB.

About 5 percent of UV rays are UVB. They have higher energy levels than UVA rays, and typically damage the outermost layers of your skin, causing sunburn. These rays directly damage DNA and are the cause of most skin cancers. The other 95 percent are UVA rays - these can pass through glass (such as a car windscreen) and penetrate your skin more deeply, causing your skin cells to age.

Our cotton blocks both UVA and UVB to the highest measured standard (UPF50+), making these gloves effective at providing all round protection against the sun.
