A cashmere glove with a feminine twist. Ailsa is a wrist length pure cashmere glove with the sweet twist of a bow at the side - our classic design. All our cashmere gloves are fully fashioned, meaning that they fit like a glove should fit.
Absolutely pure cashmere. Cashmere is one of the true natural luxuries of our age. Combed from the underfleece of goats grazing at altitude in Mongolia, it travels to Scotland and the shores of Loch Leven to be spun into yarn and dyed. The purity and softness of the waters of the Loch are essential to the finish and the process is so natural that the water used can be returned to the Loch. It comes to us in the green hills of Sussex to be cut, sewn and fashioned into simply perfect gloves. For softness, colour and warmth there is no other material on earth that comes close. It is a simple, almost magical fabric.
2 BL (button length). This is the length of the glove, in inches, from where the thumb seam meets the wrist to the hem at the top of the glove.
How to measure glove size
Here is how you convert from centimetres to inches:
How do I guess someone's glove size?
If you are buying gloves for someone and don't know their glove size (and don't want to ruin the surprise), their height can indicate their most likely glove size. Please note, this is statistically most likely but won't be correct 100% of the time.
Applies to women only!
|Height||Most likely glove size|
|5'1" to 5'6"||7|
|5'7" to 5'8"||7½|
|5'9" to 5'11"||8|
Forearm & upper arm fit
For our longer gloves, we take a measurement for forearm and upper arm fit. This is to ensure the glove is an appropriate and flattering fit for your arm.
To measure your forearm fit, hold your arm outstretched and pass a tape measure around your forearm at the broadest point. The resulting measurement, in inches, is your forearm fit.
To take measure your upper arm fit, hold your arm outstretched and pass a tape measure around your bicep at the mid point - the resulting measurement, in inches, is your upper arm fit.
To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54 - e.g. 20 centimetres = 7.9 inches

We offer our Merino Wool and Cashmere gloves with an optional touchscreen friendly feature. We do this by hand embroidering little stars in silver thread into the thumb and index finger of both gloves.
With touchscreen friendly gloves, the key requirement is for conductivity that will allow the naturally occurring electric charge in your finger to pass through the glove to the screen of your device - and silver is an excellent conductor.
How well does this work?
This is intended to work well for simple interactions with your device - making and receiving calls, playing your favourite podcast. For detailed interactions like sending a text message, you'll want to take your gloves off.
Will this work with my screen protector?
- Please note: this does not work well with some silicone screen protectors
- However this does work well with glass screen protectors
The hub of our glovemaking operation is a small, flint walled building that was built some 150 years ago to house dairy cows. All around us are pastures. A mile to the south, the green hills of the South Downs separate us from the salt seas of the English Channel.
It takes a lot to make a good pair of gloves. Great fabrics, selected with great care from mills large and small, skill and people with a passion for making things just right.
Almost everything we make is made to order. So that the person who is making your gloves knows exactly what you want in terms of glove size, style and dimensions. They will also know your name and you will know theirs because, when they’ve finished your gloves and they’re completely happy with them, they will sign the tag to say so.
Our box, like our gloves, is built to last. For us, it's about the product, not the packaging, but when we designed our box we made sure it was beautiful and timeless.
