Size

Not sure what size of gloves you need? Please watch our video measuring guide and refer to the size chart below. This will help you capture the most accurate measurements. Our gloves are made to measure, so we want to ensure a perfect fit.

We make our gloves in hand sizes from 6 to 8½. To find your glove size, pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb. The result, in inches, is your glove size. If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower.

Here is how you convert from centimetres to inches:

    Glove size Inches Centimetres
    6 6 15.2
    16.5
    7 7 17.8
    19
    8 8 20.3
    21.6

How do I guess someone's glove size?

If you are buying gloves for someone and don't know their glove size (and don't want to ruin the surprise), their height can indicate their most likely glove size. Please note, this is statistically most likely but won't be correct 100% of the time.

    Applies to women only

    Height Most likely glove size
    Under 5'1"
    5'1" to 5'6" 7
    5'7" to 5'8"
    5'9" to 5'11" 8
    Above 6'

    Elbow Fit

For our 12 inch gloves, we take a measurement for your elbow fit to ensure your gloves have the correct and flattering fit on your arm. This measurement is the circumference of your arm, where the glove ends.

Please take care with this measurement and give it to us accurately. We really want your gloves to look perfect, and not be too loose or too tight. With your help we can get them just right!

How do I measure my elbow fit?

Measure from where the thumb creasve meets the wrist.

Keeping your arm relaxed, measure up the arm until you reach 12 inches. This is where the glove ends.

Measure the circunference of your arm at this point.

he exact result in inches is your Elbow Fit for an Opera Glove. Please round to the nearest 0.25 inches.

    To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54 - e.g. 23cm = 9 inches

My measurement is below 8.5 or above 15 inches, what should I do?

We will still be able to work to your specification, but please contact us before ordering.

    Index Finger Fit

This optional measurement allows us to account for your finger length, if you suspect they are unusually long or short in relation to your hand width. Please provide the length of your Index finger in inches, starting from where it meets your middle finger. This measurement is usually between 2.25 and 3.5 inches.
Do I need to provide this?
No, this is a totally optional measurement. Please only worry about it if you suspect you have unusually long or short fingers in relation to your hand. Our standard fit is excellent for 90% of people.

    Add Monogram?

    Monogram

Whether it’s for a special occasion or a unique gift, our monogramming service is the perfect, thoughtful addition to your gloves — add up to four letters to personalise your gloves with elegant, gold embroidery.

    • Please always type your monogram in the exact order you would like your letters.
    • The font we use is Goudy Bold.
    • The colour of the thread is gold.
    • The charge for monogramming is £25.
    • We are normally unable to accept returns of monogrammed gloves.
    • Monogramming can be done in Latin characters only.

    Positioning

On short gloves (up to 8 inches), we position the monogram on the underside of the left wrist — just the left hand glove — as in the picture above.

On gloves which are 12 inches and longer, we position the monogram on the inside of the upper arm — again, on the left glove — as in the picture below.

If you'd prefer something different, we can normally accommodate your request — just let us know.

    Add Ring Window?

    Ring Window

The ring window is a specially designed - and finely crafted - feature which allows you to put on, take off or simply show off your ring without having to remove your glove from the hand.

It’s ideal for Brides as it allows for the ring finger to be removed from the glove for the ring ceremony and then replaced, leaving the ring on display. It’s simple, straightforward and - importantly -  stress free.

    Ring Window
An elbow-length glove in soft tulle, Carisa is softly ruched and adorned with crystals sewn all the way up the arm. Delicate and light-catching, she adds a gentle sparkle with every movement—elegant, luminous, and effortlessly striking.
    Glove Length: 12 inches

Elbow Length. This is a 12 inch glove. This is measured from where the thumb seam meets the wrist, to the opening of the glove.

    Material: Fine Tulle

Tulle derives its name from the city of Tulle, France, where it was first manufactured in the 18th Century. Our tulle comes from Italy, and remains one of the most romantic glove materials out there. Tulle is wonderfully light and intricately netted, which gives it a sense of both daintiness and allure.

    Care Guide

Tulle has presence without weight — a veil of elegance that floats rather than fits. It’s delicate, yes, but not as fragile as it looks. What it needs most is stillness: low agitation, soft water, space to dry. Treated properly, it holds its shape beautifully and keeps its lightness.

There’s no need for drama. Tulle just wants calm.

    Let It Float

Wash inside a delicates bag and give it room. Don’t cram it in with heavy fabrics or aggressive spin cycles. Once clean, lay flat to dry and smooth out any folds or embellishments while still damp. You’re guiding, not forcing.

    Care Method

Place in a mesh laundry bag and wash on a cold, delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry on a towel. Gently reshape by hand. Never twist, wring or expose to heat.

If Volume or Detail Is Compromised

For layered tulle or gloves with decorative accents, a textile specialist familiar with bridalwear or evening materials can restore shape and finish with precision.

    Handmade in Sussex, England

The hub of our glovemaking operation is a small, flint walled building that was built some 150 years ago to house dairy cows. All around us are pastures. A mile to the south, the green hills of the South Downs separate us from the salt seas of the English Channel.

It takes a lot to make a good pair of gloves. Great fabrics, selected with great care from mills large and small, skill and people with a passion for making things just right.

Almost everything we make is made to order. So that the person who is making your gloves knows exactly what you want in terms of glove size, style and dimensions.  They will also know your name and you will know theirs because, when they’ve finished your gloves and they’re completely happy with them, they will sign the tag to say so.
