Size

Not sure what size of gloves you need? Please watch our video measuring guide and refer to the size chart below. This will help you capture the most accurate measurements. Our gloves are made to measure, so we want to ensure a perfect fit.

We make our gloves in hand sizes from 6 to 8½. To find your glove size, pass a tape measure around the widest part of your hand - usually over your knuckles, excluding the thumb. The result, in inches, is your glove size. If you are between two sizes, round down to the lower.

Here is how you convert from centimetres to inches:

    Glove size Inches Centimetres
    6 6 15.2
    16.5
    7 7 17.8
    19
    8 8 20.3
    21.6

How do I guess someone's glove size?

If you are buying gloves for someone and don't know their glove size (and don't want to ruin the surprise), their height can indicate their most likely glove size. Please note, this is statistically most likely but won't be correct 100% of the time.

    Applies to women only

    Height Most likely glove size
    Under 5'1"
    5'1" to 5'6" 7
    5'7" to 5'8"
    5'9" to 5'11" 8
    Above 6'

    Upper Arm Fit

For our Opera length gloves, we take a measurement for your upper arm fit to ensure the glove has a correct and flattering fit all the way up your arm. To be clear, the measurement we need is the circumference around your arm at the point where the glove ends - either your bicep or just above the elbow depending on the style of glove.

Please take care with this measurement and give it to us accurately. We really want your gloves to look perfect, and not be too loose or too tight. With your help we can get them just right!

How do I measure my Upper Arm?

Measure from where the thumb crease meets the wrist.

Keeping your arm relaxed, measure up the arm until you reach 16 inches. This is where the glove ends.

Measure the circunference of your arm at this point.

The exact result in inches is your Upper Arm Fit for an Opera Glove. Please round to the nearest 0.25 inches.

    To convert centimetres to inches, divide by 2.54 - e.g. 23cm = 9 inches

My measurement is below 8.5 or above 15.5 inches, what should I do?

We will still be able to work to your specification, but please contact us before ordering.

A little less formal, a little less serious — but absolutely no compromise on style. Long, elegant lace mittens that say it like you mean it. In ivory, they’re perfect for brides who want all the romance without the fuss, especially when it comes to the ring moment. Effortless, modern, and quietly bold.

    Glove Length: 16 inches

Opera Length. This is a 16 inch glove. This is measured from where the thumb seam meets the wrist, to the opening of the glove.

    Material: Fine Lace

Our beautiful lace comes from France and Austria: two houses who have, like us, remained steadfast in their commitment to traditional methods of craftsmanship. The use of nineteenth century looms gives it that extra fine detail we hold so dear to our hearts.

    Care Guide

Lace is more than decoration — it’s memory. A lace glove feels almost weightless on the hand, but never invisible. It’s feminine, intricate, and timelessly formal. Still, despite its delicacy, lace can be remarkably resilient when treated with a light touch.

It doesn’t need special treatment — just thoughtful handling and space to move.

    Let It Unfold

Machine washing is possible, but only on the gentlest cycle and always within a delicates bag. Give lace the space it needs. Don’t crowd the drum, and don’t rush the drying. Once clean, lay the gloves flat and let them breathe. Trims and bows may need a moment of reshaping by hand — nothing more.

    Care Method

Wash cold on a delicate cycle inside a mesh bag. Dry flat. Reshape by hand. Avoid friction, heat, or spin cycles that may damage trims.

    When Detail Needs Preserving

For lace gloves with vintage embroidery, beading or fragile structure, a professional cleaner familiar with bridal or formal accessories can refresh them safely and beautifully.

    Handmade in Sussex, England

The hub of our glovemaking operation is a small, flint walled building that was built some 150 years ago to house dairy cows. All around us are pastures. A mile to the south, the green hills of the South Downs separate us from the salt seas of the English Channel.

It takes a lot to make a good pair of gloves. Great fabrics, selected with great care from mills large and small, skill and people with a passion for making things just right.

Almost everything we make is made to order. So that the person who is making your gloves knows exactly what you want in terms of glove size, style and dimensions.  They will also know your name and you will know theirs because, when they’ve finished your gloves and they’re completely happy with them, they will sign the tag to say so.
